Veterans Ranch of Central Oregon to receive $25,000 grant for therapy programs

The Central Oregon Veterans Ranch (COVR) announced it has received a $25,000 grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation. The money from the grant will fund and support Agri-therapy programs the organization provides for veterans in Central Oregon.

COVR says they plan to work with 1,800 veterans, family members, and civilians to provide a wide range of activities for veterans. These include greenhouse classes, community garden plots, picnics, and more. The full list of programs the Ranch offers can be found on their website

Co-Executive Director Adrian De La Rosa said that Agri-therapy is the heart of their support programs.

“Digging in the dirt makes people happier!” De La Rosa said. “From beneficial microbes in the soil that stimulate the release of serotonin, to the increased release of dopamine, getting your hands in the dirt helps the body’s nervous system find equilibrium.”
