There are three certainties in life: Death, taxes and the Summit High School girls cross country team winning a state title.

The Storm girls won their 15th consecutive title Saturday — 5A or 6A — narrowly beating Crater for the trophy. Summit scored 64 to Crater’s 66.

Crescent Valley came in 3rd and Caldera took 4th. Redmond came in 10th.

Summit sophomore Eva Dicharry was the highest-placing girl from Central Oregon, taking 7th. She was followed by Caldera freshman Maddie Carney in 8th and Summit sophomore Skye Knox in 10th.

On the boys side, Summit scored 64 to take second behind Crater’s 37.

Caldera was 8th.

Summit senior Noah Laughlin-Hall took third individually. Caldera sophomore Mason Morical took 4th and Summit junior Hayden Boaz came in 6th.
