“The speed limit on the Parkway is 45 mph. You may think that’s too slow, but it’s the result of the roadway design, which includes short on-ramps, intersections, traffic lights and crosswalks,” Bend PD said on Facebook.
Bend Police conducted two similar speed patrols last year. Those resulted in 259 citations including 250 for speeding. Drivers were cited for speeds ranging from 58 mph to 84 mph.
We rode along on one of those patrols and were there when an officer clocked someone doing 76 mph — 31 mph over the speed limit. You can watch that story in the player below.
The officer also told us it’s very easy to spot speeders and then verify their speed with radar or LIDAR.
