Bend Police say a man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder after the stabbing death of his mother.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of SE Lee Lane around 9:21 a.m., according to Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller. The caller allegedly stated that a person at the home had been stabbed.
Officers arrived to find the suspect, identified by police as Theodore John Bowser, 37, who lives in the home. Officers took him into custody.
Officers tried to provide aid to the victim, identified as Bowser’s mother — Rene Lynn Carlson, 60. Despite their efforts, Carlson suffered fatal injuries, Miller said.
Bowser was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder, police said. He was transferred to St. Charles Bend and was expected to be booked into the Deschutes County Jail.
There was no indication formal charges had been filed as of Tuesday night.
The area of Lee Lane and SE Woodland Blvd between 3rd and 4th Streets are closed for the investigation. Miller said that is expected to last overnight.
