Central Oregon drivers may keep seeing gas prices tick downward. It’s something unexpected given the violence in the Middle East, which typically makes the price of oil volatile.

Crude oil prices did go up after the initial attack on Israel. However, since the beginning of that conflict, the price has been trending downward.

“If things don’t spread in the Middle East and become more intense, we would expect pump prices to continue to fall,” said Marie Dodds, Director of Government and Public Affairs at AAA Oregon/Idaho.

The Oregon average price for gas has dropped eight cents for the month to $4.33 for regular. Oregon has the 8th biggest weekly decline in the nation thanks to demand going down and the switch to the winter fuel blend.
