Raptors of the Desert Sky is back at the High Desert Museum. The outdoor flight demonstration happens every day at 11:30 a.m. through Labor Day, but buying tickets early is key.

Visitors can see hawks, owls, falcons and turkey vultures fly from perch to perch directly over the crowd seated at the amphitheater. A museum expert narrates what’s going on.

“The outdoor flight program is a highlight of the High Desert Museum summer season,” said Museum Executive Director Dana Whitelaw in a statement. “It’s a special experience to see these birds so close and witness their power and beauty while learning about their incredible adaptations that allow them to thrive in their habitats.”

Weather and air quality can affect the schedule. The Museum says its website will be updated if schedule changes are made.

The show is not included in the museum admission. It costs an additional $5 for members, children 3-12 and seniors. It’s $7 for non-members and is free for children age 2 and younger.

Tickets must be purchased in person by 11:00 a.m., but they often sell out by 10:00 a.m. The museum urges visitors to arrive when doors open at 9:00 a.m. to ensure they can get into the show.

Tickets are not sold online.
