Former Beaverton mayor Dennis “Denny” Doyle pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of child pornography, the Department of Justice announced.

Doyle, 73, “knowingly and unlawfully possessed digital media containing child pornography” between November 2014 and December 2015, DOJ said in a statement.

“Several of the images Doyle possessed were of children under the age of 12 who had been identified as known sexually exploited minors by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC),” DOJ said.

Doyle was charged on March 3 with one count of possessing child pornography. He will be sentenced on Jan. 24, 2023. DOJ did not say what punishment Doyle faces. KATU reported on Sept. 1 that he faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Anyone who has information about the physical or online exploitation of children are encouraged to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.

Doyle was mayor of Beaverton from 2009 to 2021.
