Redmond woman dies of Hantavirus

A 67-year-old Redmond woman who contracted Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome at a family cabin in the 3 Rivers Area of Jefferson County died this week. Lindy Farr became sick with flu-like symptoms and never recovered. The Deschutes County Health Department confirmed the incident and reminds residents to take precautions from the disease which is spread by rodents.


R.L. has won numerous local, state, and national awards for his news coverage and community involvement. He is in the Oregon Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame as a 2004 Heritage Broadcaster of the Year. Over his 38-year career he has been a mainstay in the Central Oregon media.
