Firefighters have held Juniper Creek Fire west of Lake Billy Chinook to 106 acres as of late Monday morning, the Oregon Department of Forestry said. It is zero percent contained and some Level 3 “Go Now” evacuations remain in place.
ODF reports the fire is 16 miles northeast of Sisters on ODF-protected lands. It is burning southeast of the 2055 road in Township Range 16 and 21, which is South of Graham Road.
The fire was reported at about 11:00 a.m. Sunday. The cause is under investigation.

Monday’s efforts will focus on establishing water supply to the fire’s edge and securing the control line completely around the fire and patrolling for hot spots, ODF said. A control line is the term used to describe dozer and hand line used to create a fire break.
Aircraft are being used to map the fire area while looking for spot fires and problem areas. But ODF says a thick layer of smoke will limit further aircraft use.
A Level 3 “G0 Now” evacuation remained in place through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for 590 A road Jordan to the gravel dump west of the 590 A road South in Geneva RD past the cemetery.
