Commercial land at the growing Petrosa development in northeast Bend has been sold to a new developer. It comes after months of questions as to whether a highly anticipated marketplace next to the residential neighborhood would be built as originally planned.
Pahlisch, which is building the neighborhood off Butler Market Road and Deschutes Market Road, sent a letter to homeowners with the announcement that commercial parcels have been sold “to a reputable local developer.”
No other details about who that developer is or what will be built was included, but the email said “You can look forward to ongoing updates and announcements as development progresses.”
The Markets at Petrosa was a big point of attraction for potential homebuyers in the community. Pahlisch Homes took promotional signs for The Markets at Petrosa down late last summer, leading some to question if the plans were canceled. At the time, Pahlisch said the project was still on and new signs would be going up. But those signs turned out to be “for sale” signs.
Bend City Mayor Melanie Kebler told Central Oregon Daily in October that the land is still zoned for commercial development, but the city cannot dictate what kind of commercial gets developed.
