Summit Mountain View semifinals

Undefeated Mountain View is headed to the Oregon 5A football championship game next week. Summit’s run for back-to-back titles came to a rough end against the team it beat for last year’s championship.

The Cougars got out to a 21-0 lead against Silverton in their semifinal game Friday on the way to a 42-19 win.

Mountain View racked up 417 yards of total offense and held the ball for nearly 32 of the 48 minutes.

Connor Crum went 8-for-10, 154 yards and three touchdowns for Mountain View. Crum added 140 yards and a touchdown rushing. Angel Valenzuela ran for 145 yards on 26 carries and two scores. Jack Foley led the Cougs with five receptions for 99 yards and two scores.

The Storm struggled all night in the other semifinal against Wilsonville, falling 34-2.

The Wildcats got off to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, but gave Summit a chance to get back in it when a snap when over the head of the punter and out of the end zone for a safety before halftime.

Wilsonville turned it on in the third quarter with 21 points unanswered.

The Wildcats outgained Summit in total offense, 403 to 201. Wilsonville quarterback Kallen Gutridge threw for 309 yards and five touchdowns.

Mountain View and Wilsonville will meet for the title the day after Thanksgiving.
