
Firefighters worked quickly Thursday to try to contain two small fires that broke out southeast and west of Bend.
The first was reported around 1:10 p.m. on the south side of Kelsey Butte. Firefighters were able to get a line around the fire. A helicopter was dropping water and a couple of single-engine air tankers were called in. It was 75% contained Thursday night at about 0.4-acres.
A second fire was reported just after 9:00 p.m. about 3/4 miles north of Skyliners Road and 1 1/4 miles west of Bend. It was 50% contained late Thusday night.
There is no immediate information on the causes of the fires.
