The Bedrock Fire near Fall Creek Lake in the Willamette National Forest has burned 6,161 acres since the fire began on Saturday.

Willamette National Forest announced an emergency closure for “public and firefighter safety.” An image of the closure area can be seen below.

Fire officials say the fire is at 0% containment. Fire personnel are establishing fire lines along ridgelines between Little Cowhorn Mountain and Fawn Peak to see if past fire lines could be reused.

Northwest Incident Management Team 13, the group in command of this fire, has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction around the fire, which also extends to drones. In a Facebook post, the team said that drone use would cause air resources to be grounded and could “lead to firefighter injury, loss of structures and damages to resources.”

The team also says this fire is burning more actively than is typical for this time of year.

“Fuels are abnormally dry for this time of the season due to drought,” Fire Behavior Analyst Dean Warner said. “Drier fuels take less energy to ignite, and burn more rapidly and intensely than wetter fuels.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service is asking for the public’s help to find the cause of this fire. They ask that any photos, videos, or information be submitted to SM.FS.R6TipHotLine@usda.gov.
