Deschutes County S&R help in recovery of teen’s body on John Day River

Deschutes County Search and Rescue divers helped yesterday in the recovery of a 16 year old Monmouth teen that drowned in the John Day River. Cody Watson disappeared about 8 miles west of Spray in Wheeler County on Sunday. Search and Rescue members from Wheeler, Grant and Deschutes County joined OSP and Spray Fire and Ambulance members looking for Watson. The drowning was determined to be an accident.


R.L. has won numerous local, state, and national awards for his news coverage and community involvement. He is in the Oregon Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame as a 2004 Heritage Broadcaster of the Year. Over his 38-year career he has been a mainstay in the Central Oregon media.
